A 20-year-old woman charged in connection with a ‘drug-driving’ crash that resulted in the death of two people, makes an appearance in court.
A tragic incident occurred in May 2023 when a Fiat 500, driven by Tony Mist and carrying his passenger Thelma Huse, collided with a van on the A303 at Camel Hill in Somerset. Both Mist and Huse, both aged 69, lost their lives in the accident.
Today, Jessica Higgs, a 20-year-old from Warminster, appeared in Yeovil Magistrates’ Court regarding her involvement in the crash. She was accused of causing death by operating a vehicle carelessly while intoxicated with a particular prohibited substance.
During the brief hearing, Higgs confirmed her name, date of birth, and address. After receiving unconditional release, she is expected to appear on May 7 at Taunton Crown Court, which is convened at North Somerset Magistrates Court.
The emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash on May 15 last year. Unfortunately, Mist was declared dead at the scene, while Huse was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly afterward.
Higgs faces serious charges in connection with this tragic incident. As the case develops, more developments will come.
