A small plane crashed in Truckee, California, on Saturday evening, resulting in the loss of two lives.
The aircraft, identified as a Daher TBM 900, went down around 6:38 p.m. near Glenshire Drive and Olympic Blvd.
Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) rushed to the scene early Sunday to investigate. They will be looking into various factors, including the pilot, the plane itself, and the conditions at the time of the crash.
The plane departed from Denver, Colorado, on Saturday afternoon and was attempting to land at Truckee Tahoe Airport when the tragic incident occurred.
Despite the crash, there was no danger to nearby buildings, and roads remained open. However, emergency responders were on-site for an extended period to assist.
Moderate snowfall and limited visibility of about half a mile were reported during the time of the crash, adding complexity to the investigation.
The type of aircraft involved in the crash was a Socata TBM9, and a preliminary report on the accident is expected within the next 30 days.
Truckee, where the crash took place, is located approximately 30 miles southwest of Reno, Nevada.
