Cillian Murphy to Star in ‘Blood Runs Coal’: A Tale of Justice and Corruption
Universal Pictures has secured the rights to adapt Mark A. Bradley’s gripping book, “Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America,” into a compelling film titled “Blood Runs Coal.” The story delves into the shocking events of 1969 surrounding the murder of mining union organizer Joseph “Jock” Yablonski and the ensuing investigation uncovering corruption within the coal industry.
Set in the late 1960s amidst Pennsylvania’s coal mines, the film promises to shed light on a crucial moment in American labor history. With Universal Pictures leading the charge, production is underway, with a team of talented individuals at the helm.
Cillian Murphy recognized for his diverse performances in movies such as “The Dark Knight” and “Dunkirk,” is poised to embody the significant character of Chip Yablonski, the offspring of the murdered labor union advocate.
